About this product
Portable Solid State Drive
An ultra-thin metal shell portable SSD with 128TB capacity — available in Black, Blue and Red. Plug in, transfer, store. The external drive that fits in a pocket and holds an entire computer’s worth of files without the bulk of a traditional hard drive.
- 128TB capacity — store everything without managing space
- Metal shell — built for daily carry without fragility
- Ultra-thin profile — genuinely pocket-sized
- 3 colours: Black · Blue · Red — identify drives at a glance
Black
The most versatile and discreet option. Blends into any desk setup, pairs with dark laptop bags and cases, and shows less fingerprint and everyday wear than lighter colourways. The default choice for someone who wants the drive to disappear into the setup.
Blue
Immediately distinct from Black at a glance — useful if you use more than one drive and want to tell them apart without reading a label. Works well as a designated colour for a specific type of content (media archive, project files, backup).
Red
The highest-visibility option in the range — immediately identifiable in a bag, on a desk or in a drawer. The most practical choice for a drive that needs to be found quickly, or one that serves a specific critical function such as a primary backup.
Connectivity and compatibility
- Connects via USB to Mac and Windows computers, laptops and desktops — no driver installation required on most current operating systems. The drive appears as an external volume in Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) immediately after connection.
- Mac — the drive may be formatted as exFAT (compatible with both Mac and Windows) or NTFS (Windows-native). If the drive is NTFS-formatted and read-only on a Mac, it can be reformatted to exFAT using Disk Utility. Back up any existing data before reformatting.
- Windows — compatible with Windows 10 and 11. NTFS and exFAT-formatted drives are fully supported with read and write access.
- USB port type — check the USB connector type against the ports on your computer. Modern MacBooks and many laptops use USB-C; older machines use USB-A. A USB-A to USB-C adapter resolves most port compatibility issues without affecting drive performance.
- Tablets and phones — may be compatible with USB-C iPads (iPad Pro, iPad Air) and Android devices that support USB OTG. Compatibility with specific models is not guaranteed — verify USB storage support on your device before use.
Setup, transfer and backup
- Connect the drive to a USB port. It will appear as an external volume in Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) — no installation required. Transfer files by drag and drop, or use it as a destination in backup software.
- Mac backups — use Time Machine (System Settings → General → Time Machine → Add Backup Disk) to set the drive as an automatic backup destination.
- Windows backups — use File History or Windows Backup to schedule regular backups to the drive. A dedicated backup drive should be reconnected regularly so backups remain current.
- Working files — the drive can be used as an active working volume for large files (video projects, RAW photo libraries, audio sessions) too large to store on a laptop’s internal SSD. The drive must remain connected during the session.
- Colour-coding multiple drives — assign each colour a specific function: Black for primary backup, Blue for working files archive, Red for critical data. Label each drive in your operating system so the volume name matches its colour and function.
- Always eject the drive safely before unplugging — on Mac, drag to Trash or click the eject button in Finder; on Windows, use “Safely Remove Hardware”. Unplugging during an active transfer can corrupt data.
Care, storage and longevity
- Keep the drive away from liquids, extreme heat and strong magnetic fields. Exposure to moisture, sustained heat above 70°C, or proximity to powerful magnets can damage internal components or corrupt stored data.
- Store in a dry environment when not in use. A sleeve, pouch or small protective case is recommended for daily carry — protecting the connector port from dust, debris and mechanical stress is the most effective way to extend the drive’s usable life.
- Do not apply excessive lateral force to the USB connector when plugging in or unplugging. Insert and remove the connector straight — repeated angled insertion stresses the port solder joints and is the most common cause of connector failure on portable drives.
- Avoid dropping the drive from height onto hard surfaces during active data transfer — a physical shock during a write operation can interrupt the transfer and leave files in a corrupted or partially written state.
- Wipe the exterior with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or solvents on the metal surface — these can strip the surface coating and cause discolouration.
Gifting
A practical and well-considered gift for photographers, videographers, designers, students and anyone who works with large files or wants a reliable backup solution. The three colour options mean it can match the recipient’s setup or serve as a practical identifier when multiple drives are in use. Compact enough to wrap or include in a tech gift alongside a cable, a laptop stand or a carrying case.
