01550°C Temperature Rating — Reliable Suppression When It Matters

A 550°C rating means the blanket can withstand the temperatures generated by the kinds of fires most likely to occur in a domestic kitchen or outdoor cooking environment — burning oil, ignited food, flare-ups from a BBQ or gas hob. The threshold that covers the realistic range of small fire incidents without the blanket itself catching or degrading during use. The specification that makes the difference between a safety product that performs when needed and one that fails at the critical moment.

02No Chemicals — Smother, Don’t Spray

Smothering a fire with the blanket cuts off its oxygen supply and extinguishes it without releasing any chemical agents — no powder residue, no CO2 discharge, no foam to clean up afterwards. The suppression method that leaves the kitchen, BBQ, or camping area in a usable state immediately after the incident rather than requiring extensive cleaning before the space can be used again. Also means no risk of inhaling extinguisher chemicals in an enclosed space — a meaningful safety consideration in a kitchen environment.

03Glass Fibre Construction — Built to Perform Under Heat

Glass fibre is the material of choice for fire suppression blankets because it is inherently non-combustible, dimensionally stable under heat, and resistant to the temperatures generated by small domestic fires. Unlike woven cotton or synthetic alternatives, glass fibre does not ignite, melt, or shrink when exposed to flame — the material property that makes it reliable in the moment it’s needed rather than adding to the hazard. The construction that gives the blanket its 550°C rating and the confidence to deploy it without hesitation.

04Three Sizes — Right Coverage for Every Situation

The 40×60cm size is compact enough to store in a kitchen drawer and sized for small hob fires and pan incidents. The 100×100cm standard size covers a wider range of kitchen, BBQ, and camping scenarios where a larger fire area needs to be smothered. The 120×180cm large size provides coverage for bigger fires and is large enough to wrap around a person in an emergency — making it a full personal protection option as well as a fire suppression tool. Choose the size that matches where you’ll store it and the scenarios you’re most likely to face.

In the Box1 × Fire Safety Blanket (in storage pouch)
  • Pull the blanket from its pouch using the pull tabs — the tabs allow rapid deployment without needing to handle the blanket directly. In an emergency, speed of deployment matters.
  • Hold the blanket up in front of you with your hands behind it to protect them from heat. Approach the fire from the side where the blanket shields you.
  • Place the blanket over the fire source completely, covering the entire burning area. Do not fan or wave the blanket — lay it down smoothly to avoid feeding oxygen to the fire.
  • Leave the blanket in place for at least 15–20 minutes after the fire appears extinguished. A re-ignition risk exists while the surface beneath remains hot. Do not lift the blanket to check underneath.
  • Once the fire is fully out and the area has cooled, carefully remove the blanket. Do not reuse the blanket after deployment — replace it immediately.
If the fire is larger than the blanket can cover, do not attempt to smother it. Leave the area immediately, close doors behind you, and call the emergency services. A fire safety blanket is for small, contained fires only.
  • 40×60cm: the compact option — fits in a kitchen drawer, glove box, or small bag. Best suited for small hob fires, pan fires, and the kinds of contained ignitions that can occur from a single burner or small appliance. The right choice for a secondary blanket kept in a vehicle or caravan.
  • 100×100cm: the standard option — covers a wider cooking area and is suitable for most kitchen, BBQ, and camping fire scenarios. The size to buy if you are only purchasing one blanket for a household kitchen.
  • 120×180cm: the large option — provides coverage for bigger fires and is large enough to wrap around a person if clothing catches fire, making it a genuine personal protection option as well as a fire suppression tool. The right choice for workshops, garages, or any environment where a larger fire risk exists.
When in doubt, buy larger — a blanket that is too big for the fire is always better than one that cannot cover it fully. Partial coverage leaves oxygen getting to the fire and reduces suppression effectiveness significantly.
  • Kitchen: mount on the wall beside the hob or store in the drawer closest to the cooker — accessible in under 5 seconds from the most likely fire location. Do not store inside a cupboard above or beside the hob where it may be inaccessible if a fire starts there.
  • BBQ area: keep in the outdoor storage unit or hanging near the BBQ. The 40×60cm size is compact enough to hang from a hook beside the grill.
  • Vehicle: glove box or boot storage. The 40×60cm size fits in most glove boxes; the 100×100cm size is suitable for the boot of a car, van, or caravan.
  • Camping: keep in the cooking kit bag alongside other camp kitchen equipment so it is always accessible when the camp stove is in use.
A fire safety blanket is only useful if it is immediately accessible. The most common reason people cannot use their blanket in an emergency is that they cannot reach it quickly enough. Store it where the fire is most likely to start, not where it is most convenient to keep.
  • A fire safety blanket is a single-use product — once deployed, it must be replaced. The glass fibre material may be compromised by heat exposure even if it appears undamaged. Do not reuse a deployed blanket.
  • After use, allow the blanket and the area beneath it to cool fully before handling. Wear gloves when removing the blanket — the glass fibre can irritate bare skin.
  • Dispose of the used blanket in general waste — it does not require specialist disposal. Replace the blanket in its storage location immediately so it is available for the next incident.
  • Check the blanket periodically even if unused — ensure the pouch is intact, the pull tabs are accessible, and the blanket is stored in a dry location away from direct heat sources that could degrade the material over time.
