The two-way finding function lets the phone trigger an alarm on the iTag and vice versa — the feature that turns the tracker into a phone finder as well as a key finder, and that makes it useful in both directions rather than only alerting when range is lost. Press the iTag button to make the phone ring; use the app to make the iTag alarm. Two problems solved, one device.

Download the iTag app from the App Store on your iOS device — the iTag requires the app to function. Search for “iTag” in the App Store and install the official app before pairing.
Open the app and follow the pairing instructions to connect the iTag to your phone via Bluetooth — ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the device before starting. The pairing process is typically a single tap to confirm the connection.
Once paired, attach the iTag to the item you want to track using the built-in keyring loop — suitable for keys, bag zips, collar D-rings, backpack straps, and any attachment point that accepts a standard keyring.
Set the alert range in the app to suit your use case — a tighter range for indoor use (e.g. around the house) and a wider range for outdoor use (e.g. a pet in the garden or a child in a park).

The Smart iTag is iOS compatible. Check the App Store listing for the current iOS version requirement before purchase if you are using an older device.

Keys: attach via the keyring loop and receive an alert if you leave home without them, leave them in a door, or they are moved from their usual spot. Use the app to trigger the alarm when they are nearby but not visible.
Bags and wallets: clip to a bag zip pull or inside a wallet pocket — the anti-loss alert notifies immediately if the bag is moved without the phone nearby, which is the use case for theft prevention in public spaces.
Pets: attach to a collar D-ring — the 40m+ range covers most garden sizes and the alert triggers if a pet leaves the expected area. Note: the iTag is a proximity tracker, not a GPS tracker, and requires Bluetooth range to function.
Children: attach to a backpack or lanyard — the alert triggers if a child moves beyond the set range in a public space, providing a proximity warning rather than a GPS location.
Elderly relatives: clip to a lanyard or keyring — the proximity alert is useful for monitoring movement within a home or care environment where wandering is a concern.

The iTag is a Bluetooth proximity tracker — it alerts when the item moves out of Bluetooth range and allows you to trigger an alarm within range. It does not provide GPS location tracking or work beyond Bluetooth distance.

The iTag uses a replaceable button cell battery — battery life varies based on usage frequency and alert activity. The app typically displays a low battery warning when replacement is needed.
Replace the battery with the correct button cell type as specified in the instruction manual — using the wrong battery type can damage the internal circuit.
Keep the iTag dry — it is not waterproof and should not be submerged or left in heavy rain. For pet collar use, remove before bathing or swimming.
Wipe the exterior with a dry cloth to remove dust or dirt — avoid solvents or abrasive cleaners on the disc surface.

Battery replacement is the only maintenance required for normal use. The iTag has no moving parts and no rechargeable battery — replacement batteries are widely available at supermarkets and electronics retailers.
