80×210 cm: the narrowest option — suited to internal doorways and narrower residential door openings. Measure the door frame width (not the door leaf) at the widest point before ordering. If the frame width is 80 cm or below, this is the correct size. A curtain that slightly overlaps the frame edges is always preferable to one that is too narrow and leaves a gap at the sides.
90×210 cm: the mid-width option, suitable for most standard interior and exterior residential doors in the UK. If the frame width falls between 80 and 90 cm, choose this size for a clean overlap at both edges. Also the most common size for kitchen doorways where a screen curtain is used to keep flies out during cooking.
100×210 cm: the widest option — suited to larger exterior door openings, wider patio or balcony entrances, and any frame where the 90 cm curtain would not provide sufficient overlap. If in doubt between 90 and 100 cm, choose 100 cm; excess width can be folded back against the frame without affecting function.

All three sizes are 210 cm in height, suitable for standard UK ceiling heights. Measure the door frame opening width before selecting a size — not the door leaf width, which is typically 5–10 cm narrower than the frame opening.

Clean the top of the door frame surface thoroughly before attaching the Velcro header strip — dust, grease, and paint residue all reduce the adhesion of the Velcro tape. A wipe with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth is sufficient for most painted surfaces. Allow the surface to dry completely before applying the strip.
Peel the backing from the adhesive side of the Velcro header strip and press firmly along the full length of the top of the door frame — apply pressure along the entire strip for at least 30 seconds to ensure full contact. The adhesive bond strengthens over the first 24 hours after application.
Attach the curtain to the header strip by pressing the corresponding Velcro panel on the curtain against the header strip — align the curtain so the two panels hang evenly and the magnetic Velcro split runs centrally down the door opening. Adjust the horizontal position before pressing firmly to avoid repositioning.
Test the seal by bringing the two panels together by hand and checking that the magnetic Velcro closes cleanly along the full height of the split — then walk through and check that the panels close fully behind you without leaving a gap at the top or centre of the split.
If the seal does not close completely at the top of the split, adjust the curtain position on the header strip slightly so the top of the panels sit closer together — the magnetic Velcro requires the panels to be within a few centimetres of each other to seal; if the curtain hangs too wide at the top the seal will not reach.

On rough, unpainted, or heavily textured door frame surfaces, the adhesive Velcro strip may not hold reliably without additional support. In these cases, supplement the header strip with two or three removable adhesive pads or command strips at the top corners of the frame to reinforce the hold without drilling.

Brown Stripe: the warmest option — suits natural wood door frames, warm-toned interiors, and any room with a brown, terracotta, or timber colour palette. The most natural-looking choice for a kitchen or conservatory doorway with a wooden frame, where a cooler colour would feel mismatched.
Beige Stripe: the most neutral option — suits cream, off-white, and light-painted door frames and interiors. The safest choice for a gift or for anyone uncertain of the interior colour scheme, as beige complements the widest range of interior palettes without clashing. Also the most versatile choice if the curtain will be moved between doors.
Black Stripe: the most defined contrast — suits dark door frames, grey or charcoal interiors, or any room where a strong stripe pattern is a deliberate design choice. Also the most visually recessive against a dark-painted frame where a lighter curtain would stand out prominently.

All three colours provide identical insect-blocking, ventilation, and magnetic Velcro seal performance — the choice is purely aesthetic. If installing across multiple doors in the same home with different frame colours, choose a different colour for each door to match the local frame colour rather than using the same colour throughout.

Shake or brush the curtain periodically to remove dust, pollen, and debris from the polyester mesh — the mesh collects airborne particles over time and benefits from a weekly shake in summer when the curtain is in daily use. A gentle shake outdoors takes less than a minute and maintains airflow through the fabric.
Spot-clean stains with a damp cloth and mild soap — avoid saturating the Velcro closure or the magnetic strip along the split, as prolonged moisture can reduce the Velcro adhesion and affect the magnetic strength over time. Allow the curtain to dry fully before reinstalling.
Remove and store at the end of summer if the curtain is used in an outdoor or semi-outdoor location — UV exposure, wind, and rain will degrade the polyester fabric and the adhesive backing of the header strip faster than indoor use. Store folded loosely in a dry location.
When removing the Velcro header strip at the end of the season, peel slowly at a low angle to minimise the risk of paint lifting from the door frame — on freshly painted or delicate surfaces, heat the strip slightly with a hair dryer before peeling to soften the adhesive and reduce the pull on the surface beneath.

The Velcro closure does not require any maintenance beyond keeping the strip edges clear of debris. If the Velcro loses grip over time, lint and fabric fibres in the Velcro loops are the most common cause — remove with a fine-tooth comb or a piece of tape pressed against the loop side of the Velcro to lift embedded fibres.
