About this product
Business Commuter Backpack.
An Oxford cloth business commuter backpack with polyester lining, curved shoulder straps, dry/wet separation, and a 15.6″ laptop compartment — 20–35L capacity. Model 1168. Available in seven colourways including standard and film finishes. Built for the commute, the business trip, and the long travel day.
The dry/wet separation compartment keeps gym kit, wet umbrellas, or damp travel items away from laptops, documents, and clean clothes — the internal organisation that makes one bag work for the full day without cross-contamination.
The dedicated 15.6″ compartment fits a MacBook Pro 16″, Dell XPS 15″, or any standard business laptop without forcing the zip — usable for the majority of laptop owners rather than only those with smaller screens.
The ergonomic curved shoulder straps distribute weight evenly and follow the natural line of the shoulders — the strap design that makes a full 35L bag feel manageable on a long commute or a full travel day rather than adding strain with every step.
Oxford cloth with sewing thread detailing gives the bag structure and durability while keeping the aesthetic clean enough for a meeting room — the material that holds its shape through daily use without looking worn after a month of commuting.
- Laptop compartment (15.6″) — load the laptop into the padded 15.6″ sleeve first before filling the main section. The padded sleeve accommodates a MacBook Pro 16″, Dell XPS 15″, HP EliteBook 15.6″, Lenovo ThinkPad 15″, or any device up to 15.6″ without forcing the zip. The dedicated sleeve keeps the laptop separated from documents and accessories that can press against the screen across a full commute or travel day. Extract the laptop easily for airport security without disturbing the rest of the bag’s contents.
- Main compartment (20–35L) — the expandable main section handles a laptop, documents, a change of clothes, a packed lunch, a charger set, and general daily accessories at full capacity. Pack heavy items (laptop, documents) close to the back panel and near the spine to maintain balance and reduce shoulder strain across a long commute.
- Dry/wet separation — the dry/wet separation compartment is designed to keep damp or wet items isolated from dry contents. Practical uses: a damp gym kit or trainers after a lunchtime session, a wet umbrella after a rainy commute, damp swimwear, or any item that would otherwise transfer moisture to clean clothes, documents, or electronics in the main section. Place wet items in the separation section immediately on retrieval — do not allow damp items to rest against the main compartment lining before being separated.
- Outer and front pockets — use for frequently accessed items throughout the day: phone, transit card, keys, earbuds, pen, and a compact charger. A structured front pocket prevents these items from settling at the base of a deep main section and requiring full unpacking to retrieve.
- Business travel packing — at 35L the bag handles a 2–3 night business trip load — laptop, documents, charger set, 2–3 days’ clothes, and toiletries. Use the dry/wet section for a toiletry bag to separate liquids from clothing and documents. Verify airline carry-on limits before travel — at 35L this bag may exceed cabin bag limits on some carriers.
- Wipe the Oxford cloth exterior with a soft damp cloth to remove surface marks, commute dust, and light soiling. For more persistent marks, apply a small amount of mild soap to the cloth, wipe clean with a fresh damp cloth, and air-dry fully before use or storage. Do not machine wash — machine washing distorts the Oxford cloth structure, damages the polyester lining, and can delaminate or peel the surface treatment on film-finish colourways.
- For film-finish colourways (Black Film, Film Grey, Film Blue), avoid abrasive cleaning materials that can scratch or dull the surface treatment. Use only a soft damp cloth; do not use scouring pads, stiff brushes, or solvent-based cleaners on the film surface. The film treatment is durable under normal commuting and travel use but will mark permanently if abraded.
- For Light Grey and Film Grey colourways, surface marks from urban commuting (contact with clothing dye, metal surfaces, or dirty straps) are more visible than on Dark Grey, Black, or the darker film finishes. Clean these colourways after every few days of use to prevent mark build-up.
- After use in rain, wipe the exterior with a dry cloth and leave the bag open in a ventilated space to dry the outer surface and lining fully before closing. The Oxford cloth and polyester lining both dry quickly under normal ventilation conditions. Do not store the bag closed and damp — prolonged moisture can cause odour in the lining over time.
- The dry/wet separation section should be wiped down periodically with a damp cloth if used for damp gym kit or wet items. Leave the section open and unzipped to air fully after each use. Do not leave damp items sealed inside the section between uses.
The range offers two finish types across the seven colourways:
- Standard finishes (Light Grey, Dark Grey, Black, Dark Blue) — the Oxford cloth in its natural woven state. A matte, structured appearance that reads as professional and unobtrusive in all environments. Standard finishes are the more conservative and universally appropriate option.
- Film finishes (Black Film, Film Grey, Film Blue) — Oxford cloth with a surface film treatment that adds a subtle sheen visible in direct light and enhances the fabric’s water resistance. Film finishes are most appropriate in contemporary business and creative environments where a degree of material texture or sheen is appropriate. They are not suitable if a strictly matte, unadorned professional appearance is required.
Colour guidance by environment:
- Formal business / client-facing — Black (standard) or Black Film. Black Film adds subtle distinction without departing from professional convention.
- Business casual / daily commute — Dark Grey or Film Grey. Both work across smart casual and business casual dress codes without standing out.
- Creative / technology / media — Light Grey, Film Grey, Film Blue, or Dark Blue. All four work in environments where individual style within a professional palette is appropriate.
- Gift purchase — Black (standard) for an unknown recipient; Film Grey or Dark Grey for a known commuter; Film Blue or Dark Blue for a recipient with a known preference for individual style.
- Daily commute — the curved shoulder straps, dry/wet separation, and 15.6″ laptop compartment are the three features that make this specifically a commuter bag rather than a general backpack. Curved straps reduce strain across a long commute with a full load; dry/wet separation handles the gym-to-office-to-home day without switching bags; and the 15.6″ sleeve accommodates most working professionals’ laptops. Film finishes add practical weather resistance for commuters in wet climates.
- Business travel (2–3 nights) — at 20–35L the bag handles a short business trip load without needing checked luggage. The laptop compartment keeps the device protected and quickly accessible for airport security. Black and Black Film are the colourways most consistently appropriate across all business travel environments from economy check-in to a client boardroom. Check airline personal item and cabin bag dimensions before travel.
- Study and campus use — the 15.6″ laptop compartment and large main section handle a full academic load. The structured Oxford cloth holds its shape across a full term of daily use. Light Grey, Dark Grey, and Film Grey are the most natural colourways in a campus environment; Dark Blue and Film Blue suit anyone who wants a more individual aesthetic in a study context.
- Hybrid work and hot-desking — the bag is well-suited to a hybrid working pattern where everything needed for an office day must be carried on commute days and the bag must look appropriate on arrival. The structured Oxford cloth and business-ready colourways maintain a professional appearance across the full work week without requiring a separate travel or work bag.
“15.6″ laptop, dry/wet separation, curved straps — the Oxford cloth commuter bag that handles the full day from the gym to the meeting without switching bags.”
