USB Power Delivery (PD) is the charging protocol that allows the charger and the device to negotiate the highest safe charging power the device can accept — the protocol that produces the fast charging experience on modern smartphones, tablets, and laptops rather than the fixed-rate charging that older USB standards deliver regardless of what the device is capable of receiving. At 240W maximum output, the cable is rated to handle the full charging power of current USB PD 3.1 devices — including high-powered laptops that require more than 100W to charge at full speed — without the cable becoming the limiting factor in the charging chain.   • Smartphones (iPhone, Android flagships): most current smartphones charge at between 20W and 67W maximum. The cable will deliver whatever the phone requests up to its maximum — the 240W rating simply means the cable is not the limiting factor. A phone that charges at 45W will charge at 45W regardless of whether the cable is rated for 100W or 240W, provided the cable can handle the power level.
  • Tablets (iPad, Android tablets): most tablets charge at between 18W and 45W. Same principle as smartphones — the cable delivers what the device requests, the high rating ensures headroom.
  • Laptops (MacBook, Windows ultrabooks): many current laptops charge at 60W–140W via USB-C. A cable rated below the laptop’s maximum charging wattage will charge the laptop slowly or trigger a low-power charging warning. The 240W rating covers all current USB-C laptop charging requirements and the emerging USB PD 3.1 standard that supports up to 240W.
  • Gaming handhelds (Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch): typically charge at 45W or below. Fully compatible.
The charging speed is always determined by the lowest-rated component in the chain — the charger, the cable, or the device’s own charging circuit. A 240W cable paired with a 20W charger will charge at 20W. To benefit from high-wattage charging, a USB PD charger rated to the device’s maximum charging wattage is required in addition to this cable.
  • The right-angle connector is the end that plugs into the device being charged — the phone, tablet, or laptop. The angle exits the port sideways, allowing the cable to run along the surface of the device or the desk rather than projecting outward.
  • The straight connector (if the cable has one) or the other end of the cable plugs into the charger or power source in the usual way.
