The holographic effect is produced by the persistence-of-vision principle — the fan blade spins at high speed while the 224 LEDs flash in precise sequences timed to the rotation, creating a complete image in the air that the human visual system interprets as a three-dimensional floating object because the brain retains the impression of each lit LED position for slightly longer than the interval between flashes. The result is a full-colour image that appears to float in space at the position of the spinning fan, visible to anyone looking at it from the front without any viewing aid. Unlike a conventional flat display that exists on a surface, the holographic fan display produces an image that has no physical backing — the space behind and around the image is visible, which is what creates the floating appearance that a flat screen cannot replicate.
The 224 high-brightness LEDs are the component that determines image quality and ambient-light visibility — the two factors that make the difference between a holographic display that is impressive in a darkened room and one that is effective in a busy retail environment with overhead lighting, daylight from windows, and visual competition from surrounding displays and signage. Higher LED brightness means the image remains visible and vivid at greater ambient light levels, which is the operating condition in most commercial environments where the display will be used. The 42cm diameter fan provides sufficient image area to be visible and legible from a meaningful distance — large enough to attract attention across a shop floor or exhibition hall, compact enough to mount in a window or on a wall without dominating the space.
The app control system allows content to be uploaded, switched, and managed directly from a smartphone without requiring a computer, USB connection, or physical access to the unit after installation — the workflow that makes the display practical for commercial use where content changes frequently and where the unit is mounted in a position that is not convenient to access repeatedly. New promotional content, seasonal campaigns, product visuals, and animated loops can be pushed to the display from the app and updated as often as required. For retail environments where window display content changes weekly or monthly, the app control eliminates the need to take down and reconnect the unit for each content update. The same app manages content for multiple units if the installation includes more than one display.
The ultra-thin profile of the display allows it to be mounted flush against a wall or suspended in a window without projecting significantly into the space — the installation format that is practical for retail windows where the display must not obstruct the view into the shop, for restaurant entrances where floor space is limited, and for exhibition stands where every centimetre of depth affects the available working area. The wall-mount format also positions the display at the correct height and angle for maximum visual impact from the intended viewing distance, which is typically the approach path to the location rather than the immediate vicinity of the unit. A display positioned at head height on a wall is visible from significantly further away than one placed on a surface, and the floating image effect is more dramatic when the viewer approaches the display from a distance.
- Select the installation position before mounting — the display should be positioned at head height or slightly above for maximum visual impact, and in a location where the approach path to the display gives viewers at least 1–2 metres of viewing distance. The floating effect becomes more dramatic as the viewer approaches, so positioning the display at the end of an approach path produces the strongest impression.
- Mount the unit on the wall using the supplied mounting hardware. Ensure the mounting surface is solid and capable of supporting the weight of the unit. For window installations, the unit can be suspended using the mounting bracket at a position where the fan is clear of the glass and the image is visible from outside.
- Connect the power cable to the selected plug (US or EU) and plug into a standard wall socket. The unit does not require any specialist power supply or wiring beyond a standard mains socket at the installation location.
- Download the companion app on a smartphone and follow the in-app pairing instructions to connect the display to the phone. Once paired, content can be uploaded directly from the app using image and video files stored on the phone or accessible from cloud storage.
- For the best visual effect, ensure the display is positioned away from direct sunlight and in an area where ambient lighting is controlled. The display is visible in well-lit indoor environments, but very strong direct light from behind the viewer reduces perceived image brightness and contrast.
- Content for the holographic fan display must be prepared in a circular format to match the circular display area produced by the spinning fan. Rectangular images and videos will appear distorted if not reformatted to the correct aspect ratio before upload. The app typically includes guidelines or a template for the correct content dimensions — check the app documentation for the specific file format and resolution requirements.
- Animated content produces a stronger holographic effect than static images because the movement of elements within the animation reinforces the three-dimensional floating appearance. Looping animations are the most effective content format for commercial display use — a short loop of 5–15 seconds that draws the eye and communicates the key message before repeating.
- High-contrast content with a black or very dark background is the most effective for the naked-eye 3D effect — the dark background areas of the image appear transparent because the LEDs are not lit in those zones, which maximises the floating appearance of the lit foreground elements. Bright subjects on dark backgrounds are the content format that best exploits the holographic fan display format.
- Multiple content files can be loaded and switched between via the app. For retail environments where different promotions run at different times, a library of content can be pre-loaded and activated remotely without visiting the installation.
- US Plug (Type A): the two flat-blade plug used in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and a number of Central and South American countries. Select this version if the installation is in a country that uses Type A or Type B sockets.
- EU Plug (Type C/F): the two round-pin plug used across most of continental Europe, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and most other EU member states. Also used in parts of Asia, South America, and Africa. Select this version if the installation is in a country that uses the Europlug socket standard.
- UK customers: the UK uses the Type G three-pin plug, which is not the same as the EU plug. A Type C/EU to Type G adapter (widely available) will be needed to use the EU Plug version in a standard UK socket, or select the EU Plug version and use it with a travel adapter.
- If you are unsure which plug type is correct for your location, check the socket type used at the installation site before ordering. The plug type does not affect the performance of the display — both versions are the same unit with a different mains plug.
- Retail window: mounted in a shop window facing outward, the display attracts passing foot traffic with a floating 3D product visual, promotional message, or brand animation. The display is visible from outside the shop and draws attention that a standard flat poster or screen display cannot match at the same price point.
- Restaurant entrance or bar: mounted at the entrance or above the bar, the display creates a memorable visual impression for guests and provides a dynamic alternative to static menu boards or printed promotional materials.
